Thomas Thomas

City Manager

City of Compton

205 S. Willowbrook Avenue

Compton, CA 90220

Dear Mr. Thomas:

On behalf of the Love Ones of Compton, please accept this as our introductory letter to foster greater collaboration with the City of Compton in all areas of community development activities.  We believe that it is our respective corporations’ mutual objective to help build a stronger and more self-sustaining resilient municipality.

Love Ones of Compton is a nonprofit, 501 (c) (3) public benefit charity organization operating in the City of Compton.  Our mission is to encourage and support actions that address the needs of the Compton Citizenry.  Our outreach goes toward such activities, but not limited to, growing efficient senior community centers, homeowner’s dwelling rehabilitation, transitional housing for individuals in recovery from domestic disturbances, and work programs that help to better guide our youth.

There is an immense number of Compton residents that suffered, and some whom have not recovered, from the devastation resulting from Compton’s white flight of the 1960’s, the ensuing closure of major Compton-based industrial corporations in the 1970’s that effectually employed local residents, and the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency that funneled illegal quantities of cocaine to the Crips and Bloods street gangs who carried out atrocious crime that the government corruptly benefited from by using the sale and consumption of drugs to fund Latin American guerrilla militia.

Love Ones of Compton operates in memory of our Compton citizens that became unsuspecting victims to the aforementioned socioeconomic calamities.  We are very poised to help the City of Compton prevent and eliminate the emerging blight found in parts on our communities.  It is our aim to be involved with the City’s Community Development Block Grant program administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

We ask of you as the City Manager of Compton to coordinate a meet and greet with your office and appropriate staff members to more thoroughly share our mission and accomplishments as an active member of the community.  Indicative of the street takeovers by willfully misguided youth, there is a dreadful struggle to assimilate such youth into a healthier level of civic appreciation.

In view of the aforesaid highlighting areas of opportunities of civic improvements, we are extending our agency to assist with providing the supportive services needed for us all to live more productively in the City of Compton. I look forward to your earliest and most favorable response.

Sincerely,
